Classroom Rules

We read some awesome books this week The First Day Jitters, No, David, David Goes to School, Miss Nelson is Missing, and Do Unto Otters. We used these books to help us come up with classroom rules. We found that once we sorted our rules they all fell under the four categories that the students came up with of 1. Listen to the teacher. 2. Treat others the way you want to be treated. 3.  Be responsible. 4. Be respectful. We made a chart and all of the kids signed our new classroom rules.

Checking In - Rating System

We have a Checking In and Rating System that we use in our classroom that  helps students quickly communicate with me on how well they understand a lesson.

Double Thumbs Up: I understand it and I can teach it.

Thumbs Up: I understand it and I can do it.

Thumbs to the Side: I kind of get it.

Thumbs Down: I don't get it at all.

The students are already comfortable using this quick system to let me know how they are doing. :)
